Founder & Managing director of five pillars pte ltd
Raj Mohamad is the visionary behind Five Pillars, firmly believing that Islamic Finance is not just a financial system, but a driving force for businesses committed to long-term sustainability over quick, short-term gains. As the head of Five Pillars, Raj leads a team dedicated to providing bespoke guidance to a diverse range of clients, including private enterprises, listed companies, corporates, investment banks, non-profit organisations, and individuals, exploring Islamic financing options for investment or capital raising endeavours.
With a strong foundation in conventional banking and specialised expertise in Islamic Finance, Raj brings forth tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of their clientele. His extensive experience in Islamic finance markets across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe uniquely positions him to assist clients in structuring and auditing Islamic financial products. Furthermore, Raj provides invaluable expertise in matters related to Fara’id, ensuring adherence to Islamic principles governing the equitable distribution of a deceased person’s estate to their heirs.
Drawing from a nearly decade-long tenure at Bloomberg, Raj has accumulated a wealth of experience and insights into the operations of buy-side firms and treasuries within key banks and financial institutions. During this time, he had the privilege of developing Islamic financial analytical tools and data for leading platforms such as Bloomberg and Reuters (now Refinitiv Eikon). This distinctive background enables him to offer guidance to conventional buy-side firms on maximising opportunities within the Islamic finance market.
In addition to his advisory role, Raj actively contributes to corporate and individual growth by delivering comprehensive training programmes in Business Development, Sales, Public Speaking, Presentation Skills, and Islamic Banking and Finance. His instructional prowess extends to esteemed institutions such as the National University of Singapore (Department of Real Estate), Singapore Management University, and NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
Enthusiastic about the transformative potential of emerging FinTech trends, particularly Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies, and Artificial Intelligence, Raj recognises these technologies as key drivers of innovation across industries, including Islamic Finance. At Five Pillars, he takes pride in advising and collaborating on innovative projects that leverage AI, Blockchain, and Digital Currency to address social and humanitarian needs while remaining Shari’ah compliant. Continuously engaging with experts in this field, Raj and his team endeavour to offer investors and fund providers access to Shari’ah-compliant opportunities for growth.
